Malaysian International Passport
PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR A MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT
The Malaysian International Passport is a legitimate travel document issued by the Malaysian government for international travel. The 48-page passport is good for five years.
GENERAL STATEMENT
- The use of the terms’ Anak lelaki’ (AL) and ‘Anak Perempuan (AP) for Indian and non-Muslim people on the main website has been repealed but is still published on the ‘OBSERVATIONS’ page.
- If the candidate is under the age of 18, his or her parents’ Malaysian Identity Card is necessary.
- Unclaimed Malaysian passports will be reinforced and disposed of three months after the date mentioned on the payment receipt. The applicant must file a new application, which will be handled in accordance with the rules, including payment.
- The details of children (including newborns) will no longer be included in the parent’s passport. The child will be given a separate passport. Children aged two and up can have their pictures changed. Please include two recent photos as well as birth certificates (original and a copy). The applicant and his or her children must appear before an immigration officer.
- Consent can be given by the mother for a child under the age of 18 years old under the Guardianship Act 1961 – Amendment (1999).
- Passports reported lost and rediscovered are invalid, and the information will be submitted to INTERPOL.

Collection Day: One working day following the submission date.

SPECIAL QUEUE NUMBER
Only for old citizens, pregnant women, disabled people, and newborn babies.
PASSPORT FEES
RM 200.00 – Adult (13-59 years old)
SPECIAL FEES
- RM 100.00 – Children under the age of 13.
- RM 100.00 – Senior Citizen 60 years and older

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS TO CREATE FOR PASSPORT APPLICATION
- Original and photocopy of Singapore PR Identity Card/ Employment Pass/ Dependent Pass/’S’ Pass/ Work Permit/ Student Pass/ Long Term Pass as proof of residency in Singapore.
- If available, a current International or Restricted Passport.
- Holders of Temporary Identity Card JPN.KPPK 09 must present their Birth Certificate or Citizenship Certificate while applying.
- Holders of Temporary Identity Card JPN.KPPK 11 must be certified by the National Registration Department and present their Birth Certificate or Citizenship Certificate while applying.
- Parents of applicants who have renounced their Malaysian citizenship must provide a citizenship renunciation form (Borang K) and their Singapore Identity Card.
APPLICANT PRESENCE
- The applicant must be over the age of 18 when applying and collecting the passport.
- The applicant under the age of 18 must be present for passport submission and collecting and must be accompanied by one of their Malaysian parents.
- An applicant under the age of two years old does not need to be present for passport collection. One of their Malaysian parents may pick up the passport.
PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS FOR A MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT
- A photograph is taken at the Passport Division utilizing a Facial Live Capture Recognition Device.
- Applicants should dress in dark-colored clothes that cover their shoulders and chests.
- Taken in full-face view, straight facing the camera, with a neutral facial expression, both eyes open and lips closed.
- Unless worn daily for religious purposes, do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures your hair or hairline. The full face must be seen, and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.
- Contact lenses and eyeglasses are not permitted while taking photographs.
- Applicants who wear a veil (tudung) are required to wear a dark-colored veil.

- Statutory Declarations (Service available at Consular Division, High Commission of Malaysia)
- Police Report (Translation or Emergency Certificate, if any)
- A recent color passport-size image (White background, Size: 35 mm x 50 mm, Polaroid photo is not accepted)
- International / Restricted Passport (Copy)
- Form IM.42 must be filled out completely.

PROCESSING TIME
Approximately two months. The application will be sent to the Immigration Offices in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and Kuching, Sarawak, for processing and approval.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS FOR NAME CHANGE IN MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT
- Approval letter for name change/additional name obtained from the Identity Card Division, National Registration Department, Putrajaya.
- Copy of Malaysian Identity Card (IC) / Temporary IC KPPK 09.
- Other important documents include a marriage certificate, baptism certificate, religious conversion certificate, and so on (where applicable).
* All documents must be submitted in original and copied form.
** Please be warned that children under the age of four are urged to send two parts of a photograph with a white backdrop. (35mm x 50mm)
